Human Life Purpose In Islam That May Change Your Perspective

By | October 4, 2020

The Topic is Human Life Purpose. I begin writing in the name of Allah on whom the whole existence depends. The Allah who is known by different names, yet no name can define him. The Allah who has created everything out of nothing, yet He is beyond everything. May Allah take us all under His guidance as there’s no guidance (other than His) that can save us all from ourselves.

To begin with, let us truly understand and accept that we did not create ourselves nor did we create anything in the universe. Everything that IS, is His. Not even our lives are truly ours. Allah is the true Possessor of all the kingdoms. Our lives are just His gift upon us. He gives the life to whom He wills, and He takes the life from whom He wills. He blesses with honour whom He wills, and He humiliates whom He wills. We are nobody to ask why. May Allah help us all to submit our lives to his will! May Allah use us the way He wills. That, In sha Allah, will be our true honour.

What is Human Life Purpose in Islam?

Human Life Purpose - Rumi Quotes

What is our position, as human beings, in His vast ocean of creation? Or what is Human Life Purpose? There are uncountable and verity of Allah’s creatures on our planet itself let aside the whole universe. Every creature is rendering service to Allah. Allah, the creator, cannot create trash. It is our finite mind that very often, is not capable of penetrating the infinite wisdom of Allah. May Allah help us understand others better. So, what is our constitutional position as a human being?

The Holy Quran answers in the verse, “وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُون” which means ‘And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should serve Me (Alone)’. Now, let us take a deep dive in to the above verse. To have a glimpse of what the creator’s capacity is, we will need to understand the creation. What man calls The Universe is not the limit of the creator’s capacity, it is the limit of man’s senses. Beyond our five senses: Seeing, Touching, Smelling, Hearing and Tasting lies the limitless expanse. How can we limit the limitless? His creation itself has no limit and then how can we limit the limitless creator?

This limitless creator can never be wholly attained through the senses, because the senses perceive only a fragment, only a part. And, what is limitless, infinite cannot be subjected to fragmentation and division. No limited means can measure that which is limitless. Allah knows our limits; hence he has guided us in The Holy Quran saying that we are slaves / servants. That is our true constitutional position. That is our best position. Thanks to Him and Only Him that He at least has given us a chance to serve him.

Why does Allah want us to worship him?

To understand this from our logical mind as to how we are Allah’s servants or slaves, we need examples that our mind can comprehend. Our every action or profession: engineer, doctor, teacher, plumber, electrician, pharmacist, software developer, scientist, lawyer, physician, chef, architect, customer support, psychologist, waiting staff, actor, dentist, etc is just an act of service to others. We are always rendering service to someone, either to our family, country, or society. If we have no one to serve, sometimes we keep a pet cat or dog and render service to it.

All these factors prove that we are constitutionally meant to render service, yet despite serving to the best of our ability, we are not satisfied. Nor is the person to whom we are rendering that service satisfied. The reason for this is that the service being rendered is not properly directed. In other words, the intention with which we render service is not proper. We are unaware of our own position in this existence. Another example, if we want to render service to a tree, we must water the roots. If we pour water on the leaves, branches and twigs, there is little benefit.

If Allah is served, all the other parts and parcels will automatically be satisfied. Allah is the original root of the entire cosmic manifestation. By serving Allah, anyway, we shall serve to our society, family and nation. May Allah make us all better and better slaves of him. It is ONLY HE who can guide us. Let us pray and cry our hearts out so that our every action that we perform pleases only and only Allah.
